Joseph G. Demeter, MD, FACS, is the Medical Director of VeinSolutions, Dayton and Demeter Surgical. He earned his undergraduate degree in Premedicine from the University of Dayton, Summa Cum Laude, University Honors Degree. He continued his education at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society his Junior year, an honor given only to the top 10% – 15% of the medical school class.
Upon receiving his Doctor of Medicine Degree, Dr. Demeter was given the Upjohn Achievement Award for “Excellence in the Clinical Arts and Outstanding Personal Qualities.” Dr. Demeter served his surgical internship at the University of Louisville Medical Center and completed his General Surgery residency at Loyola University Medical Center, Chicago.
During his residency Dr. Demeter performed basic science research in the field of endocrine surgery culminating in presentations at national surgical meetings and publications in peer reviewed surgical journals. He was one of the first groups of residents trained in laparoscopic surgery.
He has practiced general, laparoscopic, and vascular surgery for more than twenty-two years and brings years of experience in treating vein disease to his patients at VeinSolutions Dayton.
Dr. Demeter has been a leader in introducing new techniques in his practice, including advanced laparoscopic surgery, less invasive treatments for breast cancer including sentinel lymph node biopsy ,and minimally invasive varicose vein treatment.
Dr. Demeter is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Wright State University School of Medicine and maintains active staff privileges at Ohio Valley Surgical Hospital in Springfield, Ohio and Soin Medical Center/Kettering Health Network in Beavercreek, Ohio.
Dr. Demeter is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has published several articles on surgical problems in peer reviewed journals and is proud to be on the forefront of the most advanced treatment of vein and surgical disease.

In his free time, Dr. Demeter enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. He also enjoys traveling, playing the piano, reading and working out.
